Discovering Fluid Power
What is fluid power? Where is it used? How will hydraulics and pneumatics be applied in new and transformational ways?
Discovering Fluid Power answers these questions and more through its stunning array of visuals and the insights of its many narrators—researchers, educators, students and leaders in the hydraulics and pneumatics industries.
In viewing Discovering Fluid Power you will learn:
- How fluid power works and why its attributes make hydraulics and pneumatics particularly well suited for getting work done under challenging conditions.
- Where fluid power is used in applications spanning the industrial spectrum—from the power needed in agriculture and construction to the precision required in intricate manufacturing processes and medicine.
- Why and how research in fluid power benefits all of us, bringing increased efficiencies to current uses and enabling new, innovative applications that improve our quality of life.
This 30-minute program was developed by the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP) in cooperation with the National Science Foundation, the National Fluid Power Association, 15 other fluid power associations around the globe, as well as manufacturers and users of hydraulics and pneumatics. Produced by Twin Cities Public Television, Discovering Fluid Power has aired regularly in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and has also been aired on other Public Television stations throughout the country.
The film was also accepted to air on the Research Channel which is currently available to nearly 38 million satellite and cable television subscribers and whose website is visited by 2 million visitors each year. In addition, the Research Channel is also available on more than 80 university-and school-based cable systems in the United States and in other countries.
