Sponsored Research

Associated Research Projects

More than thirty-five researchers at the Center’s seven universities, all with expertise in fluid power-related fields, participate in CCEFP research (see the Contact Us listing for further detail). Many of these researchers are also engaged in associated projects that are related though distinct from the CCEFP’s research menu. Currently, there are 27 such research projects under the Associated Research umbrella. Each is funded outside of the CCEFP budget through separate grants and/or sponsoring companies and foundations. (See Volume II of the CCEFP Annual Report, located in the About Us section of the site).

Companies interested in learning more about sponsorship of an associated research project are invited to contact Center Director Kim Stelson (email) or Industrial Liaison Officer Dewey Tinderholm (email).

Capstone Design Projects

All ABET accredited undergraduate engineering degree programs have a capstone design experience, where fourth-year students work in teams of three-six on a practical design project over the course of one-two semesters. Projects of particular interest are often those that engage industry sponsors in efforts to solve real-world problems.

The CCEFP’s industry members are encouraged to sponsor a capstone design project at a university of their choice in areas related to fluid power. Engagement in these projects provides undergraduate engineering students with hands-on experiences in fluid power design and development, and reinforces knowledge transfer between industry and universities. It also provides industry members with opportunities to observe students in a job-like situation before selecting the best for job offers.

If you are interested in sponsoring a capstone design project, please contact Education Director Paul Imbertson (email), project leader William Durfee (email) and/or Industrial Liaison Officer Dewey Tinderholm (email).
