3C: Fundamental and Applied Modeling of Cavitation Noise for Hydraulic Components
ABSTRACT
Modelling efforts, reflecting both fundamental and applied issues, are reported as they relate to predicting cavitation noise in hydraulic components. Specifically, fundamental large eddy simulations of cavitation in a venturi are presented together with acoustic models for noise. Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes results for venturi caviation noise are also presented. In addition, a commercial 3D CFD model for an axial piston pump is presented for cavitation predictions. Plans for laser-based experimental measurements of flow and void fraction will also be discussed.
