2E: Component Integration for Compact Fluid Power Systems
ABSTRACT
When formulating and solving systems engineering problems for compact and efficient fluid-power systems, a large amount of information and knowledge is required about a variety of aspects of the system: functionality, performance, cost, reliability, environmental impact, manufacturability, etc. Gathering all this information, organizing it into a computational model, and solving the models in support of systems engineering decisions currently requires a lot of resources. We present an approach for organizing all these models in a modular, object-oriented knowledge repository using a standardized language (SysML). This model repository will allow systems engineers to reuse analysis and synthesis knowledge through a process of model composition, thereby reducing the costs associated with Model-Based Systems Development significantly.
