1G: Optimized Engineered Fluid |
ABSTRACT
|
The strategy for a systematic study of the affect of fluid composition on the low-speed and starting efficiency of hydraulic motors will be presented. Lubricants formulated with boundary film-forming polymers have been found to increase film thickness and reduce friction in low-speed sliding contacts. Hydraulic fluid that incorporate these additives will be benchmarked against conventional hydraulic oils. Zinc-free boundary lubricants including carbon nanotubes will also be evaluated. Progress on construction of a multifunctional hydraulic motor test stand will be described. |
