Title: : Coupled multi-domain modeling and simulation of high speed on/off valves.

Project Goal:
This project will use computers to design a faster, smaller, and more efficient hydraulic switch. (Also known as a valve)

What is the problem?
Today, many machines in factories, out on the road, and at construction sites use fluids to transfer power. They control the fluid direction and speed with hydraulic valves. These valves often waste large percentage of the power, and also take up a lot of space. Because of this, machines are bigger and burn more fuel.

What are we doing to solve the problem?
This project will use the computer to predict what happens inside the valve. By looking at these predictions, we can change the valve shape to make it work faster and more efficiently while taking up less space.
